New Live EP Released June 27

Friday June 27 sees the digital-only release of a live EP by Sid called “What Happens In Beccles… Stays in Beccles”.

Sid’s solo concert last February in what is arguably Suffolk’s most beautiful market town, Beccles, was extremely well-received and as luck would have it the tapes were rolling.

Six songs from that performance were mixed and mastered by Sid Griffin and his old Hollywood/Nashville buddy Jim Hill (Rain Parade’s producer, also worked with The Blasters, Stan Ridgeway, engineered Disney Films soundtracks) and they include four songs from Sid’s recent solo album, The Journey From Grape To Raisin, as well as a Long Ryders cover and a tune from his Coal Porters bluegrass band.

The cover, which of course echos The Journey From Grape To Raisin’s front cover, is evocative of the great 1960s Greenwich Village posters advertising the era of Dave Van Ronk, Joan Baez, The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem, Carolyn Hester, Judy Collins and so many more.

Musically this Beccles Live EP is the first proper live presentation of Sid Solo. Heretofore Sid has only released a live song here and then a random live song there. This is the first time a fair portion of one of his solo shows has been recorded and released as a unit…and about time too! So roll on, June 27.
